Of ~47,000 memecoins launched on Solana, Base and BSC in 2025, 89% are functionally dead. The 2026 cohort is on track to be worse.

“Functionally dead” = no on-chain activity in 30+ days, liquidity below $5K, dormant Twitter. By that filter, survival rate is brutal and the rug-but-still-trading long tail makes the picture uglier.

The structural problem

Launch tools democratized issuance to 50,000+ tokens per day. Attention does not scale to match. Result: a casino where the house (launch platform + bots) takes nearly all the value.

The TFZ read: not creative destruction. Measurable transfer of retail capital to platforms and bots. Caveat emptor remains the only working strategy.
